Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

Performs and reports laboratory procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes, utilizing laboratory skills. Responsible for assigned shifts, with availability for overtime and callbacks.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens for accurate and timely testing.
• Performs laboratory tests and reports results.
• Conducts quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance, and inventory management.
• Ensures positive patient identification to minimize errors and adverse outcomes.
• Evaluates data, draws conclusions, and supports continuous learning.
• Completes assigned goals and provides instruction to personnel and students as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited program.
• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Basic computer literacy required; advanced skills preferred.
• Must hold national certification compliant with federal and state regulations; ASCP certification preferred.
