About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is responsible for accurate and timely reporting of high-complexity lab test results, performing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance. They collaborate with caregivers and Laboratory Services staff to ensure quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performing complex laboratory tests with minimal supervision
- Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments
- Evaluating specimens and analyzing data
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
- Performing high-complexity testing accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and resolving technical issues
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis and care
- Adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited program
- Certification from recognized agencies such as ASCP or AMT upon hire
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience; 3 years preferred
