Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist position at UNC Health offers opportunities across various labs including Transplant Lab, Transfusion Medicine Lab, Core Lab, Microbiology Lab, and Special Hematology. Positions are available in diverse locations such as UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, UNC Health Rex in Raleigh and Holly Springs, UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield, UNC Health Rockingham in Eden, UNC Health Chatham in Siler City, and UNC Health Caldwell in Lenoir.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory tests and procedures
• Interpret test results and communicate findings to healthcare providers
• Ensure accuracy and quality of all laboratory work
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Collaborate with other lab personnel and healthcare professionals

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, or a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science, or an Associate's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology
• MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification if an Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science
• ASCP categorical certification in the specialty area if a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science
• MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification if a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science
• Two (2) years of experience required for Medical Lab Scientist II positions with an Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science

Pay

$26.59 - $41.09 per hour (Hiring Range)

Schedule

Per Diem, Part-time, and Full-time schedules are available.
