Medical Lab Technician PRN
Job Summary and Qualifications
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) utilizes skills and training to perform tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids to assist in diagnosing and evaluating patient medical conditions. This role also involves participating in performance improvement activities to ensure continuous quality improvement, maintaining cultural awareness, and promoting a supportive, team-oriented environment.
What You Will Do in This Role
- Handle specimen processing and pre-analytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity.
- Perform various types of laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate test results, and enter/verify results in the Laboratory Information System.
- Evaluate periodic quality control according to policy and procedure.
- Evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator.
- Troubleshoot all instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator.
- Participate in hospital initiatives and departmental goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager.
Qualifications
- Average degree from a NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program.
- Hospital laboratory experience preferred.
