About the role
The MLT and MT positions at our department require accurate processing, analysis, and reporting of laboratory results with minimal supervision. They must maintain confidentiality and ethical standards while following procedural guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process, analyze, and report laboratory results in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Comprehend and follow procedural guidelines in performance of laboratory tests including quality control monitoring, computer applications, instrumentation troubleshooting, and specimen collection and processing requirements.
- Exercise professional judgment in the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests while following established procedures.
- Able to assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor.
- Perform and interpret standard, complex, and specialized tests.
- Implement and monitor quality control programs.
Requirements
- MLT: Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program, ACT 169 clearance, and certification by A.S.C.P. within 6 months from date of hire OR possess a H.E.W. certification with 5 years of full-time clinical laboratory experience OR already functioning as an MLT within SVH or TMC (Grandfathered) as off June 2002.
- MT: Must be MT (ASCP) certified or hold a BS degree from an accredited and associated certification program and obtain A.S.C.P. certification within 6 months from date of hire OR already functioning as an MT within HVS or HVB (Grandfathered) as of June 2002 OR Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW and has experience as a CLT for a minimum of 20 years.
Qualifications
- Both the MLT or MT must obtain successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable.
