What You Will Do:
- Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory testing on patient specimens, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests on patient specimens.
- Prepare and process specimens using appropriate reagents, stains, and solutions.
- Conduct testing procedures according to standardized methodologies and departmental protocols.
- Recognize abnormal or unexpected results and initiate appropriate follow-up actions.
- Complete testing within required turnaround times, including STAT testing.
- Accurately record, verify, and report laboratory results.
- Assist with morgue duties once competency is established.
- Perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance procedures on laboratory instrumentation.
- Document quality control activities, corrective actions, and maintenance accurately.
- Interpret results using delta checks and established verification processes.
- Communicate critical values according to protocol and document required read-back confirmation.
- Collaborate professionally with physicians, nursing staff, and laboratory colleagues.
- Follow PPE requirements and laboratory safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Attend departmental meetings, organizational training, and continuing education activities.
- Maintain a minimum of 12 continuing education units annually.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
