Location: Hershey, PA

Full-time position, 1.00 FTE, evening shift with a $2.00/hour differential.

About the role

Responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, and cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation. Aseptically prepare cells for use in cellular therapies. Test results are used in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (NAACLS/ABHES), or Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college/university with:
    • 6 semester hours of chemistry
    • 6 semester hours of biology
    • 12 semester hours of courses in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination
    and proof of eligibility to sit for an applicable certification exam (ASCP, AMT, ACHI or equivalent).
  • Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI, or an equivalent certification agency must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
  • Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it meets CLIA requirements. Evaluations must be performed by a nationally recognized organization (e.g., National Association Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES), or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE)). The applicant is responsible for the cost of the equivalency evaluation.
