Medical Lab Technician, Full Time, Nights

About the role

Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time night shift Medical Lab Technician for their lab at Plainwell Hospital in Plainwell, MI.

Responsibilities

• Performs, validates, interprets, documents and reports test results under the supervision of a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist.
• Conducts quality control and quality assurance testing.
• Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
• Aids with data collection and special projects.
• Understands and participates in all aspects of clinical laboratory testing: pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical.
• May collect and process specimens.
• Trains and mentors Medical Lab Technicians (MLTs), new associates and students.

Requirements

• Medical Tech
• Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred
• LIC Medical Lab Scientist ASCP, or AMT preferred
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences

Qualifications

• Knowledge of personal protection measures and the ability to avoid accidents.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.

Skills

• Proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace.

Pay

Schedule

• 40 hours/week
• 10 hour shifts
• 1100-2130 with weekend rotation
