Medical Lab Technician FSED

About the role

Our Medical Lab Technicians (MLT) perform assigned laboratory tests in specialty departments such as Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. By conducting laboratory tests and procedures, you will help to provide data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex analysis of microscopic, immunologic, biologic, bacteriologic, hematologic, and chemical tests and their results.
• Responsible for specimen receiving and putting away supplies when received in the department.
• Troubleshoot/resolve instrument problems and document corrective action in appropriate log and when necessary, perform instrumentation repairs.
• Affirm that quality control is properly performed and logged and follow proper department procedure for corrective action.
• Train new employees and/or students.
• Participate in phlebotomy and accession responsibilities.

Requirements

• Previous Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist experience is preferred.
• An Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological, Chemical, and/or Physical Science is required. A Nursing Degree with the required CLIA acceptable courses will be considered.
• An Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science is preferred.
• Successfully complete registry within 12 months of hire for anyone with a hire date after 1/1/2005. Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered. ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW certifications are preferred.
• Maintain continuing education to keep registry/licensure.

Qualifications

• Education: An Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological, Chemical, and/or Physical Science is required. A Nursing Degree with the required CLIA acceptable courses will be considered.
• Certification: Successful completion of registry within 12 months of hire for anyone with a hire date after 1/1/2005. Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered. ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW certifications are preferred.
• Experience: Previous Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist experience is preferred.

Skills

Knowledge and skills to train new employees and/or students, active participation in phlebotomy and accession responsibilities.

Pay

$22.61 - $31.65 / hour

Schedule

Full time, night shift position with rotating weekends.
