Medical Lab Technician

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at TriStar Horizon Medical Center is responsible for performing tests on patient specimens, evaluating test results, and reporting them accurately. This position also involves participating in performance improvement activities and maintaining a supportive, team-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle specimen processing and pre-analytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity.
• Perform various types of laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate test results, and enter/verify results in the Laboratory Information System.
• Evaluate periodic quality control according to established policies and procedures.
• Evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator.
• Troubleshoot all instruments as directed by the Section Coordinator.
• Participate in hospital initiatives and departmental goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager.

Requirements

• Associate degree from a NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program.
• Hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred.

Skills

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency with laboratory equipment and software is required.
