About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine laboratory testing across multiple laboratory sections to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role is responsible for specimen handling, test performance, quality control, and timely reporting of results in compliance with laboratory protocols, regulatory standards, and safety requirements. The MLT maintains strict confidentiality of protected health information, ensures proper use of laboratory instruments, and adheres to infection control and bloodborne pathogen safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine laboratory testing across multiple laboratory sections
  • Serves as a resource for other lab personnel regarding specimen collection and handling
  • Ensures proper use of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of protected health information
  • Adheres to infection control and bloodborne pathogen safety guidelines
  • Reports test results accurately and timely in compliance with laboratory protocols, regulatory standards, and safety requirements

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Science required
  • MLT certification through ASCP or AMT required
  • Eligible for certification with requirement to obtain within six (6) months of hire date

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
