Medical Lab Technician

About the role

Labcorp is seeking a Technician to join our Microbiology team in Portland, OR. This position supports meaningful work that impacts global health while offering opportunities for career growth.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate technical decision-making regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with specimen processing when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• High level of attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (preferred).
• 1 year or more of previous clinical laboratory testing experience (preferred).

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM with rotating weekends.
