Responsibilities
- Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates technical competency by performing a wide variety of laboratory techniques. These include moderate to highly complex tests.
- Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and skills to independently operate instrumentation and/or assigned benches.
- Operates all department equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots instruments failures.
- Performs tasks that assist with overall operation of laboratory service according to laboratory policies and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- May assist with training new employees.
- Affixes with specimen processing as needed.
- Affixes with inventory management/control.
- Maintain continuing education requirements.
- Participates in activities that demonstrate professionalism, a commitment to competency and career growth.
- Performs a variety of routine tests and procedures, performs instrument maintenance procedures, perform routine quality control procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operations of department, including covering other lab sections.
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or equivalent ASCP eligible or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- ASCP eligible.

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Their are occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Their must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Their are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Must be tested for colorblindness and be able to make necessary accommodations.
