Responsibilities
- Performs routine and special laboratory procedures
- Carries out quality control and preventative maintenance
- Performs minor equipment repairs
- Controls inventory
- Compiles statistics
- Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement tasks
- Trains new employees and conducts proficiency testing as assigned
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science
- OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree
- ASCP or equivalent certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)
- Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
- If certification lapses, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until reinstated
- Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles
