About the Role

Join our team as a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) in Tyler, TX. At UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of our system, you’ll work in a Level 1 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, alongside the region’s only EMCO program and a Level III NICU. Our medical staff includes over 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups, serving hundreds of thousands of patients annually.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
• Manage inventory control and statistical compilation.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement tasks, new employee training, and proficiency testing.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or equivalent certification (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)).
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
