Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)

About the role

Saint Francis Hospital is a full-service hospital located in Memphis, TN. It offers a wide range of medical services and is recognized for its Centers of Excellence. The position involves working in the Microbiology department on the evening shift, with 40 hours per week, rotating weekends, and sharing in holiday rotations. Responsibilities include specimen setup, blood culture workup, gram stains, diagnostic immunology testing, rapid testing, and performing operational duties, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Additionally, the role requires assisting with new equipment validation and implementation, employee training and competency assessment, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens
• Reviews and reports lab results
• Performs operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Acts as a resource to other laboratory personnel
• Performs related duties as required

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university, or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR 493.1491.
• License: Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
• Licensure, as required by State.

Preferred Experience

• 6 months to 1 year medical laboratory technologist, clinical laboratory scientist experience in acute care facility

Pay

Up to 10K sign-on bonus based on eligibility.
