Medical Lab Scientist II, PRN, Nassau Crossing

About the role

Baptist Health is a locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system in Northeast Florida. They provide comprehensive care through multiple locations and six hospitals, including Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital. The Medical Lab Scientist II position is available at the new Baptist Medical Center Nassau Crossings Emergency Department (ED).

Responsibilities

• Maintain expertise and perform technical, specimen collection/processing, LIS, general department, and clerical functions in laboratory areas.
• Maintain records of performance as defined in the SOP manuals.
• Supervise by Director and Section Supervisors; can perform all responsibilities without on-site supervision.
• Serve as General Supervisor and Charge Technologist in the absence of other lab supervisors or MTs.
• Instruct new employees and students.

Requirements

• Hold a valid Medical Technician OR Technologist - Generalist license in the State of Florida before hire.
• At least two years of working experience in the lab.

Qualifications

• Licensed prior to 1997 candidates are not required to have certification per the State of Florida Licensure Rules.

Skills

• Proficiency in specimen collection and processing.
• Experience with LIS systems.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to supervise and train others.
