Medical Instrument Technician (Polysomnography)

About the role

The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System is recruiting Medical Instrument Technicians (Polysomnography) to support the care of Veterans through specialized diagnostic services.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for polysomnography procedure using aseptic techniques.
• Monitors patient throughout the polysomnography procedure, ensuring artifact-free data and tracings.
• Applies various electrodes and sensors to monitor physiological parameters.
• Adjusts equipment settings to optimize diagnostic results.
• Performs routine maintenance and identifies malfunctions requiring repair.
• Ensures proper functioning of diagnostic equipment and supplies.
• Assists with daytime sleep studies and titrates PAP therapy as needed.
• Communicates with other medical professionals and reports significant findings.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• Proficiency in English.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and equipment operation.
• Ability to work independently and follow protocols.
• Basic understanding of cardiopulmonary monitoring and sleep disorders.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of standard polysomnography equipment and procedures.
• Experience with patient positioning and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance.

Schedule

Full-time, Mon-Fri, Two shifts per week - 7:00pm - 8:30am, One shift per week - 7:00pm - 8:00am with rotating weekend and holiday coverage.
