About the Position

This position is located in the Department of Medicine, Sleep Laboratory Clinic at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Special Incentives May Include The Following:

  • Fort Carson, CO: Located just south of Colorado Springs, Ft. Carson combines scenic beauty, pleasant residential areas, and cultural activities to satisfy every taste. It is an unusually well-rounded military community which offers a variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. World-class ski resorts are available within a short 2 1/2 hour drive, golf courses and biking trails are available on the installation as well as in the surrounding community. Numerous colleges and universities are available for continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepares, calibrates, interfaces, and operates all equipment used in polysomnographic procedures.
  • Operates polysomnographic recording instruments to obtain an electroencephalographic record of patients sleep.
  • Prepare the patient for tests reassuring the patient, providing basic education concerning the nature of the testing, allaying fears, or misconceptions.
  • Makes minor repairs and performs operator level maintenance to the equipment used for sleep disorders evaluation.
  • Post calibrates all the equipment used for the polysomnographic procedure.
  • Independently interprets data obtained from all night recording.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • US Citizens
  • Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in center and home sleep apnea testing; diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; AND operating, monitoring and maintaining equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
  • Educational Requirements: Foreign education must be evaluated to determine equivalency to U.S. education.
  • Licensure/Certification: A certified Polysomnography Technologist, Preferred Registration by the Board of Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT) is highly required. Please upload certification. Failure to upload will result in disqualification.
