About the Role

This position is responsible for maintaining and implementing an orientation program aligned with clinical practice standards in the Medical Group setting. The role involves developing educational activities, serving as a resource for policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and supporting staff development and performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates the orientation program for new staff in accordance with clinical practice standards.
  • Acts as a liaison between new staff, current employees, and the Director.
  • Develops and coordinates educational activities, including continuing education and orientation to new equipment/procedures.
  • Serves as a resource for policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA), suggesting updates as needed.
  • Acts as a professional role model and assists staff, particularly preceptors, in professional development.
  • Supports and participates in departmental Performance Improvement projects.
  • Coordinates BLS, ACLS, and PALS training for department staff.
  • Manages point-of-care testing competencies for Medical Group staff.
  • Actively participates in meetings and serves on inter-, intradepartmental, and external committees as assigned.
  • Coordinates and implements competency evaluations for Medical Group staff.
  • Performs procedures in the Medical Group area while maintaining high visibility and interaction with staff and physicians.
  • Serves as a clinical practice resource and role model.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures for the Medical Group.

Requirements

  • Current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) weeks of hire (American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire.
