About the role

The Adolescent Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) at Saint Mary's Behavioral Health Center, LLC, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical/Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP/NP) to provide consultative medical services to adolescent residents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform focused medical evaluations upon referral from the Medical Director, psychiatric providers, or nursing staff.
  • Evaluate residents experiencing changes in medical status requiring additional assessment.
  • Assess newly identified medical concerns discovered during psychiatric treatment.
  • Manage chronic medical conditions requiring monitoring while residents are in treatment.
  • Conduct focused physical examinations as clinically appropriate.
  • Determine when referral to a primary care provider, specialist, urgent care, or emergency department is necessary.
  • Provide recommendations to support medical stability and continued participation in residential treatment.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure residents' medical needs are appropriately assessed, managed, monitored, and integrated into their overall treatment plan.
  • Order laboratory studies and diagnostic testing as clinically appropriate.
  • Review and interpret laboratory results.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, and timely documentation, including medical consultation notes, focused physical examination documentation, progress notes, medical recommendations, orders, and medication documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with Georgia DBHDD regulations, CMS requirements, Joint Commission/CARF standards, HIPAA regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate urgent medical concerns during scheduled coverage or while onsite.
  • Provide clinical recommendations regarding medical emergencies.
  • Absorb and communicate clinically significant findings with the treatment team.
  • Participate in medical record reviews as requested.
  • Aid in regulatory compliance related to medical services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support accreditation and licensing readiness activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current Georgia Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.
  • National certification as: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C/FNP-BC), or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP).
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Current DEA registration (if prescribing controlled substances).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric or adolescent medicine.
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or residential treatment settings.
  • Experience caring for patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Knowledge of medical considerations related to psychiatric medications.
  • Experience with EMR documentation and clinical compliance standards.
