About the role

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Medical Equipment Tech I to support the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position involves completing various tasks and projects as assigned by the Medical Equipment Manager, including inventory management, repairs, and preventative maintenance of medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory control and preparing old equipment for surplus. Properly disinfect old equipment and record requested information for processing items for surplus.
  • Work within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to ensure broken equipment is processed through the Equipment Office.
  • Log equipment for repair and package it for shipping or pickup.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain a variety of medical equipment. Test equipment functionality and take measurements to calibrate devices.
  • Coordinate with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions, and enable new devices.
  • Support medical staff with equipment operations training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with veterinary medical equipment use.
  • Intermediate to advanced medical terminology relating to equipment purpose and use.
  • Proven experience in maintaining medical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment used in veterinary care settings.
  • Ability to use tools, gauges, and calibration equipment to assist in maintaining medical equipment.
  • Ability to work professionally with multiple stakeholders within the hospital, including faculty, veterinary students, veterinary technicians, management, executive leadership, and vendors.

Skills

  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment used in veterinary care settings.
  • Ability to use tools, gauges, and calibration equipment to assist in maintaining medical equipment.
  • Ability to work professionally with multiple stakeholders within the hospital.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
