About the role

The Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for timely, efficient, and courteous delivery and assembly of medical equipment and supplies. This role educates patients and/or caregivers on equipment use, maintenance, and benefits, completes required documentation, and performs related warehouse and inventory tasks. The position may also include after-hours coverage and cross-training for office support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver medical equipment and supplies, educate patients and/or caregivers on use and maintenance, and complete all required paperwork.
  • Maintain compliance logs, records, and receipts per policy and procedure.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including HIPAA, Joint Commission, FDA, OSHA, state boards, and infection control guidelines.
  • Report compliance or safety issues to management.
  • Provide after-hours coverage with other Medical Equipment Technicians.
  • Support and participate in training new Medical Equipment Technicians as requested.
  • Identify patient needs and revenue opportunities and communicate them to Customer Service Representatives.
  • Support vehicle maintenance by unloading and cleaning the vehicle daily and completing required maintenance manifests.
  • Maintain warehouse, inventory levels, and equipment cleanliness and repair according to policy and in compliance with applicable rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the branch office manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a qualified driving record as determined by DASCO’s auto insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Residential delivery driver experience.
  • Customer service experience in a medical, insurance, or healthcare setting.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with normal working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, subject to change by the local branch office manager. The Medical Equipment Technician is required to work periodic after-hours (overnight and weekend) on-call shifts as determined by the local schedule.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in driving, delivery, and setup environments, including patient residences, warehouses, clinical settings (e.g., hospitals), and outdoor weather conditions. The position also involves office work using standard equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
  • Requires close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent handling of equipment, gauges, meters, hand tools, and some physical contact with patients during training.

Travel

Travel throughout the day is required for deliveries. Overnight travel may be required for orientation and continuing education.
