About the Role
Citrus Health Group is a new type of agency that brings an empathetic patient focus to the new product commercialization process. We create hand-picked teams providing scientific, clinical, pharmacologic, evidence-generation, pricing and reimbursement, market access, affordability, and patient support expertise. The Medical Editor supports the Editorial Services team, servicing client accounts, and partners with Medical & Scientific Services, Project Management, Account Services, and Creative Services teams to ensure deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Edit for flow, structure, copy, and style all forms of deliverables for medical affairs, commercial, payer, and patient communications, and publications teams. Examples include:
- Manuscripts, EndNote libraries, figures, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, slides, meeting materials
- Brochures, mailings, handouts, video scripts, websites, and other print and digital assets
- Conduct pre- and post-Creative review for all Creative assets at defined stages of the project lifecycle.
- Proofread Creative poster layouts against templates and congress guidelines; annotate amends for Creative and/or incorporate text changes into layout.
- Assist in developing and maintaining style guidelines for client accounts that align with client standards, agency style guidelines, AMA Manual of Style, and Citrus editorial, publication, and ethical procedures.
- Identify project areas requiring expertise from other team members and elicit input as appropriate.
- Assist colleagues with editorial problem-solving, troubleshooting, and brainstorming.
- Coordinate essential editorial tools and processes, including:
- Project intake, article ordering and tracking
- Maintaining accurate bibliographies and reference libraries
- Overseeing congress calendars and standards
- Collaborate with senior-level editors to obtain comprehensive project briefs, query for clarity, and safeguard scope, timelines, and resourcing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of progressive professional medical or science editing experience.
- Active credentials considered a plus: Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS), Certified Medical Publication Professional (ISMPP CMPP™).
- Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat), EndNote, GraphPad Prism, and medical literature databases (e.g., PubMed).
- Familiarity with Veeva annotations, Google Analytics, SEO strategies, copyright requirements, and figure/table permissions considered a plus.
- Experience in mock journal and congress submissions, including collating submission requirements.
- Experience submitting abstracts to congresses and manuscripts to journals.
- Ability to prioritize projects, collaborate on team projects, and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to acquire relevant information from style manuals, journal guidelines, and literature searches while maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent knowledge of grammar, usage, and medical writing style guidelines (e.g., AMA Manual of Style).
- Familiarity with general scientific and medical concepts; ability to grasp complex applications.
