Medical Dosimetrist

About the role

The Medical Dosimetrist supports the Radiation Oncology team by designing and calculating radiation treatment plans using computer systems and manual methods. They collaborate with Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists to develop precise treatment strategies, including field placement, immobilization devices, and beam modifications. The role involves supporting treatment simulations, ensuring accurate documentation, and assisting in the fabrication of treatment accessories. They may also teach dosimetry principles and participate in clinical research to advance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and calculate radiation treatment plans using computer systems and manual methods.
• Collaborate with Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists to develop precise treatment strategies, including field placement, immobilization devices, and beam modifications.
• Support treatment simulations and ensure accurate documentation.
• Assist in the fabrication of treatment accessories.
• Teach dosimetry principles to staff and trainees.
• Participate in clinical research to advance dosimetry techniques.

Requirements

• Certification in Medical Dosimetry (MDCB).
• At least one year of treatment planning experience.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences.
• Preferred: ARRT certification.
• Preferred: Experience with Brachytherapy.
