About the Role
Physician will report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or their designee for administrative matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s), including rounding and consultations.
- Collaborate with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures.
- Identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, quality of life, or service provision.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability, including:
- Diagnosis and treatment of painful or functionally limiting conditions.
- Management of co-morbidities and co-impairments.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures and electro-diagnostic medicine.
- Prevention of complications from secondary conditions.
- Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions per Medical Staff Policy.
- Perform physical examinations for pain, weakness, and numbness (neuromuscular and musculoskeletal) and prescribe treatment plans.
- Admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care for treatment.
- Perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and Day 4 Plan of Care reviews.
- Approve pre-admission screenings and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and competent professional services in accordance with accepted standards.
- Prepare and maintain complete and accurate medical records, including:
- Pre-Admission Screenings (PAS).
- Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC).
- Leading interdisciplinary team conferences.
- Progress notes with face-to-face visits.
- Admission orders and IRF-PAI documentation.
- Perform administrative services as reasonably required.
- Assist with medical education, including curriculum development, supervision, performance evaluations, rounds, lectures, and continuing education for medical, nursing, and therapy staff.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
- Current state medical license.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- Current certification or active participation in the certification process by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (preferred).
- Prior experience as a Medical Director or in a leadership role (preferred).
- Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
