Position Summary

The Site Medical Director promotes and provides high-quality medical care under administrative and clinical supervision of the Regional Medical Director. They work collegially and cooperatively with various medical professionals and participate in discussions about quality of care and patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in discussions regarding the resolution of problems related to quality of care, patient safety issues, and patient complaints/grievances.
  • Maintains utilization management and clinical practice standards through the application of the organization's clinical criteria.
  • Develops medical/clinical policies and case consultations for clinical staff.
  • Treats difficult to manage patients with chronic disease and utilizes corporate clinical experts for chronic disease management.
  • Prepares and presents cases at Collegial Review for off-site/specialty care.
  • Ensures appropriate infirmary care is delivered and supervises infirmary rounds.
  • Reviews and signs-off on labs daily and reviews care plans for patients returning from hospitalizations, ER runs, and off-site specialty care visits.
  • Provides clinical supervision and leadership for staff physicians and mid-level providers.
  • Works closely with the site manager to ensure successful, efficient, and effective patient care.
  • Communicates regularly with dentists, mental health professionals, and optometrists to develop a more holistic approach to healthcare.
  • Shares in after-hours and weekend call duties.

Requirements

  • Licenses: Current West Virginia Medical license; Current West Virginia Controlled Substance license; Current DEA Certification.
  • CPR certification required; CCHP certification preferred.
  • Education: Medical Degree required. Board certified or Board eligible preferred.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of clinical experience preferred. Prior experience with use of electronic medical record system.
