Medical Director of Palliative Care Service at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital
Position description
The University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Medicine is recruiting a physician leader for the position of Director of the Palliative Care Service (PCS) in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG).
ZSFG is a premier safety-net hospital and trauma center run in partnership with the city of San Francisco and UCSF since 1873. ZSFG is one of the leading clinical sites for the UCSF School of Medicine, which includes a robust fellowship program in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Specific responsibilities
Developing and implementing strategic plans for the growth and improvement of the ZSFG Palliative Care Service.
Medical directorship of the inpatient and outpatient palliative care services at ZSFG, including faculty and staff clinical supervision.
Manage the palliative care service budget in partnership with the division manager.
Attending on the inpatient palliative care consult service, including teaching and supervision of rotating fellows and other trainees.
Teaching UCSF trainees rotating on the Palliative Care Services at ZSFG
If desired, there will also be opportunities to attend in the outpatient palliative care clinic.
Required qualifications
Board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Outstanding clinical, teaching, and organizational skills
Desired qualifications
Experience working in the safety net/with underserved communities
Administrative leadership experience
At least two years’ work experience as an attending physician in Palliative Care
