About the Role

Hoag Health, the top-ranked health system in Orange County, CA, is seeking a Medical Director to lead our growing Movement Disorders Program. This pivotal role involves steering the program to elevate care standards and community service, performing outpatient clinical care, and spearheading strategic development, management, and visionary planning. The position also includes active involvement in clinical and translational research, as well as philanthropical efforts, to pioneer advancements in movement disorders care and enhance patient outcomes.

This is a full-time opportunity based in Newport Beach, CA, with clinical neurology responsibilities up to 90% of the time and administrative duties focused on developing and managing the program. Hoag is positioned to become the leading movement disorders program in Orange County, supported by a comprehensive team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and pain management specialists.

Program Highlights

  • Hoag is investing significantly in this vision, including a $30 million renovation of the Neurosciences facility to co-locate neurology, neurosurgery, imaging, infusion services, rehabilitation, and research infrastructure.
  • Opening of a new $1.3 billion, state-of-the-art hospital campus in Irvine, CA, in 2026, expanding regional footprint and clinical capabilities.
  • Comprehensive Parkinson’s and broader movement disorders program with partnered integration of functional neurosurgery (DBS and MR-guided focused ultrasound).
  • Expansion of clinical trials and translational research.
  • Multidisciplinary therapy integration and development of a regional Center of Excellence model.
  • Emphasis on efficiency, quality care, and high patient satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • American Board Certified/Eligible in Neurology.
  • Fellowship completion in Movement Disorders from an ACGME program.
  • Must have or be eligible for California State Medical licensure.
  • Interest in participating in clinical program research and development.
  • Passion for providing excellent clinical care and strong communication skills.
  • Interest in working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Hoag Hospital.
