Medical Director - MD - 8 Hours Per Week

About the role

Correctional Healthcare Partners (CHP Health) provides medical, mental health, and dental care to incarcerated individuals across California and Washington. CHP Health is seeking a Part-Time Medical Director/Designated Health Authority to join our team at Whatcom County Jail in Bellingham, Washington. This on-site role combines direct medical care with clinical and administrative leadership. The Medical Director will provide approximately 8 hours of service per week, completed Monday through Friday, with no weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct medical care to patients within the facility
• Provide clinical leadership and oversight of medical services
• Collaborate with the HSA and Corporate Medical Director/CMO
• Support quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives
• Ensure medical services meet contractual, NCCHC, ACA, and professional standards
• Serve as the facility’s final clinical authority for medical decisions
• Support and provide guidance to the onsite healthcare team

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Washington physician license
• Current DEA registration and ability to meet applicable prescribing requirements
• Current CPR certification
• Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
• Minimum 1 year of primary care experience
• Correctional healthcare, administrative, or managed-care experience preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and computer skills

Schedule

Approximately 8 hours per week, Monday through Friday; no weekend hours required.
