About the role

The Barnabas Health Medical Group, in collaboration with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, invites applications for a Medical Director in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset.

The Department is responsible for all anatomic and clinical laboratory services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset, a 339-bed regional medical center in Somerville, NJ. The successful candidate will lead the pathology laboratory at RWJUH-Somerset, overseeing all aspects of laboratory operations. This individual will provide leadership for staff, plan, organize, and direct laboratory activities with the assistance of managers, supervisors, and senior technologists, and serve as a subject-matter expert and consultant, collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare providers.

The Director will provide clinical direction to the Somerset laboratory, including laboratory oversight, test validation, and maintenance of College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation. Experience in a CAP-accredited laboratory is desirable. As a member of the Anatomic and Clinical Pathology team, the Director will consult with clinical staff and participate in tumor boards. This is a general pathology service within a community hospital, though subspecialty expertise in cytopathology or hematopathology is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all aspects of laboratory operations at RWJUH-Somerset.
• Provide leadership for laboratory staff, including managers, supervisors, and senior technologists.
• Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Laboratory.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and consultant to physicians and healthcare providers.
• Ensure clinical direction, laboratory oversight, test validation, and maintenance of CAP accreditation.
• Consult with clinical staff and participate in tumor boards.

Requirements

• MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
• Board certification in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
• New Jersey Medical License.
• Eligibility for a New Jersey Bioanalytical Laboratory Director License.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $400,000 to $490,000 per year. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience. Generous sign-on bonuses are available.
