About the role

The Medical Director at Palmer Lake campus provides clinical leadership for a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. The facility offers a range of services including medical detox, residential treatment, PHP, IOP, outpatient services, and MAT. The Medical Director oversees medical staff, dietitians, and physician services coordinator, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to medical protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for medical services
  • Maintain high standards of medical care and evidence-based addiction treatment
  • Oversee clinical protocols and ensure safe, compassionate, and individualized care for patients with complex substance use and co-occurring psychiatric conditions
  • Support medical staff for success through medical department metrics
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans
  • Communicate on-call responsibilities and be available as backup when needed
  • Evaluate medical staff competency and conduct regular evaluations
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to discuss patient care and evaluate treatment
  • Review and audit all patient charts before submission for insurance audits
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and guidelines

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited medical school
  • Experience in addiction medicine
  • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission and ASAM/ASAM Criteria
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the appropriate state
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPM-Addiction Medicine preferred)
  • DEA to prescribe Controlled medications and training on Buprenorphine prescribing
  • Application of Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Team philosophy

  • Excellent communication skills to relate to all levels of facility staff
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of addiction medicine and treatment protocols
  • Experience with electronic health records and documentation
