About the Role

The Medical Director is the scientific services client lead for assigned accounts, responsible for the development of medical communication materials. This role is client-facing and serves as a scientific expert for both the client and the internal team. The Medical Director will actively participate as a member of the scientific team, consult regularly with senior scientific staff, and may have direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop medical communications projects as appropriate to assigned client(s), including:
  • Slide decks, advisory board materials, slide presentations, and other promotional materials across multiple clients/therapeutic areas
  • Scientific content for peer-reviewed journals, congress presentations, and related publications deliverables
  • Publication planning and preparation of content for client review committees
  • KOL and congress identification
  • Additional content development, as directed
  • Literature searches
• Develop, attend, and report on advisory programs and conference programs.
• Provide onsite support at advisory programs, key client meetings, congresses, or other events.
• Ensure all deliverables are scientifically rigorous, aligned with client strategy, and compliant with ethical and regulatory standards.
• Ensure all written materials are compliant with GPP-2022 guidelines and client internal policies.
• Serve as the scientific lead for assigned accounts, understanding the competitive landscape and key healthcare providers.
• Assist in the development of overall strategic direction and planning for assigned accounts.
• Coordinate with senior scientific staff and attend internal and external meetings.
• Interact with and provide scientific support to clients, as directed.
• Direct projects/content development for junior scientific staff.
• Support new business efforts, as directed.
• Travel as required.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills.
• Ability to understand complex scientific and medical literature.
• Experience in direct client and HCP interaction.
• Ability to develop clear, concise, and consistent content.
• Strong familiarity with GPP-2022, ICMJE, and ethical/regulatory requirements for scientific publishing.
• Experience developing medical communications materials.
• Works effectively within a team, including both internal and external partners.
• Ability to work directly with clients, leading discussions, and identifying solutions to their business needs.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Master of Science, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years medical writing experience, preferably in a healthcare marketing or communications agency.
• Ability to execute on direction with clarity, transparency, efficiency, and quality.
• Intelligent, quick, forward, and strategic thinking.
• Organized, with the ability to establish priorities, show initiative, effectively manage time, and produce results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Uses judgement to take a proactive solutions-oriented approach into all tasks.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
