Medical Director, Hospital Medicine

About the Role

Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic is seeking a Medical Director to lead the Hospital Medicine service at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington, Vermont. The hospitalists are a well-established, stable group of ABMS board-certified internists, family medicine physicians, and advanced practice providers. SVMC provides a great culture and collaborative team environment with an average daily census of 45, including a 10-bed ICU.

The Medical Director will split their FTE evenly between administrative and clinical responsibilities, leading and overseeing the medical care delivered by the hospitalist service while reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the medical care delivered by the hospitalist service
• Conduct quality reviews and ensure a culture that promotes well-being and collaborative relationships
• Manage staffing, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with medical staff and nursing leadership

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Internal or Family Medicine
• Current or eligible for Vermont Medical License
• 1-3 years of similar experience preferred
• Strong clinical, managerial, and leadership skills

Pay

Salary Range: $335,000 - $350,000. Incentive compensation may be available in addition to base salary.
