Medical Director- Emergency Medicine
West Virginia University Department of Emergency Medicine/System Medical Group seeks an Emergency Medicine Medical Director to oversee the Emergency Medicine practices for the Emergency Department at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV.
About the role
The successful candidate will practice Emergency Medicine, provide excellent patient care, and may be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. The Clinical Medical Director will serve as the primary contact for all physicians and advance practice professionals working in the emergency departments, and will be responsible for operational, fiscal, staffing, and personnel issues for Jackson General Hospital. The Clinical Medical Director will report directly to the Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine/Medical Director of Emergency Medicine, WVUHS and Hospital Administration.
Responsibilities
- Practice Emergency Medicine and provide patient care
- Teach medical students and residents (as applicable)
- Serve as primary contact for physicians and advance practice professionals in the emergency departments
- Oversee operational, fiscal, staffing, and personnel issues for Jackson General Hospital
- Report to the Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine/Medical Director of Emergency Medicine, WVUHS and Hospital Administration
Requirements
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
- Eligible for state medical license
- ABMS board certified in Emergency Medicine (or Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with 5+ years’ experience)
- Demonstrated interest, knowledge, and ability in leadership, financial, managerial, and marketing aspects of emergency medicine
- Meets and maintains State Licensure and credentialing requirements for the hospitals
- Ability to speak effectively on administrative and clinical matters related to emergency medicine
- Ability to appropriately focus communication for administrators, medical staff, EMS providers, or the lay public
