NaphCare is hiring a Medical Director to join our team of medical professionals in the Washoe County Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center in Reno, NV. You will ensure all clinical needs are met within the facility while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological and emotional needs of patients and ensure quality care to protect their rights, dignity, and health.
- Conduct rounds in the medical and infirmary units.
- Perform sick call visits and manage chronic care.
- Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies.
- Lead efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational and training activities.
- Supervise Staff Physicians and other medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO).
- Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located.
- Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required).
- Current DEA registration.
- Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in general medicine, knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and ability to manage and direct a medical team.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances.
- Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
