Medical Director

Job Summary

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Medical Director (hourly, non-benefited).

About the Role

You will provide clinical and programmatic consultation in a wide range of Public Health programs, including Immunization Programs, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH), and Reproductive Sexual Health Programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for the clinical operations of the Public Health Division.
• Cookordinate activities with City departments and outside agencies.
• Provide highly responsible and complex support to the Director of the Health, Housing & Community Services (HHCS) Department.

Requirements

• Average of 10 hours per week and no more than 19 hours per week.
• One day per week on site for meetings, observation, in services, etc.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a Doctorate of Medicine from an accredited medical college or university and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of clinical medicine.
• Experience must include completion of an accredited residency in an applicable field and two years of experience as a licensed Physician working in a specialty area such as disease control and adult health or maternal and child health.
• Desirable qualifications include a degree in Public Health, experience in working with community groups, and Board Certification in a Medical Specialty relevant to public health such as family medicine, pediatrics, or preventive medicine.
