Medical Director

Position Summary

The Corrections Site Medical Director at Polk County - South, located in Frostproof, FL, oversees medical services to inmate patients, supervising clinical services and collaborating with subspecialists.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs and documents routine physical examinations on inmate patients.
• Evaluates the credentials of health care providers.
• Assures the implementation and on-going supervision of on-site chronic care clinics.
• Provides emergency treatment and responds to urgent or emergency situations.
• Monitors referrals to outside health care facilities.

Qualifications

• Completion from an accredited medical school with MD or DO degree.
• Completion of a US-based residency program.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state.
• At least two years of public health, emergency, family practice experience.
• Previous correctional health care experience preferred.
• Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Assertive, empathetic, and able to provide care objectively.
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Maintains an active CPR Certification.
• Unrestricted and valid prescriptive authority with DEA, DEA-X, and CDS.
