Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician within the applicable state.
  • Experience providing addiction medicine services for both medically and socially complex populations.
  • Experience managing complex substance use disorders.
  • Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.
  • Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in state(s) where applicable.
  • Ability to work on-site with diverse care teams in a variety of settings.
  • Effective time management and communication skills.
  • Computer literate and experience with Electronic Medical Records.

Qualifications

Must be physically present onsite 25% of the time the facility is open to the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and clinical oversight to providers.
  • Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance related health conditions.
  • Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services.
  • Provide education regarding illness and prognosis to assist with clarification of patient and family goals of care and support development of a comprehensive care plan.
  • Oversee and supervise clinical initiatives and processes.
  • Interpret test results to diagnose any health issues and provide feedback to patients.
  • Education and Counseling patients regarding medication compliance.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to administer the best care for those patients that need not only medical therapy but behavioral health services as well.
  • Follow up with patients regarding their progress with medication and/or treatment.
  • Contact patient's PCP and/or specialist(s) when necessary.
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and CME credits.
  • Review and oversee progress and treatment plans, including making any adjustments and reviewing 10% of charts.

Description

Spero Health is seeking a Medical Director to join their team in Owensboro, KY and Henderson, KY. The Medical Director will prescribe buprenorphine and provide supervision and clinical oversight to providers. They will also complete evaluations, provide education, and work with an interdisciplinary team to administer comprehensive care to patients suffering from substance use disorder. Spero Health operates as one of the largest Office Base Opioid Treatment (OBOT) providers in the country, offering medication-assisted treatment and counseling services to help patients overcome addiction while maintaining their daily lives and responsibilities.
