About the role

The Fulton County Board of Health provides a variety of services that help protect residents from health threats, increase access to health services to improve health outcomes, and provide information that assists Fulton County citizens in living healthier lives. The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Medical/Clinical Specialist 3 within the Medical and Preventive Services.

Responsibilities

• Performs high complexity laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases under broad supervision.
• Analyzes specimens, interprets, records, and reports results.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP).
• Three (3) years of job-related science experience; or Associate degree and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Medical/Clinical Specialist 2 (LSP011) or equivalent position.

• Data Utilization: Ability to synthesize, hypothesize, and theorize concerning data involving modification of existing policies, strategies, and methods to meet unique or unusual conditions within the context of organizational theories and management principles.
• Human Interaction: Ability to function in a managerial capacity for a division or organizational unit, including making decisions on procedural and technical levels.
• Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Ability to operate and control equipment and machinery, requiring monitoring, adjustment, regulation, and setting of multiple conditions.
• Verbal Aptitude: Ability to utilize a wide variety of references, descriptive, advisory, and design data and information.
• Mathematical Aptitude: Ability to perform moderately complex algebraic and geometric operations; utilize principles of basic probability and statistical inference.
• Functional Reasoning: Ability to apply principles of logical synthesis functions; deal with concrete and abstract variables; analyze major problems requiring complex planning for interrelated activities spanning one or several work units.
• Situational Reasoning: Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in critical or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization.
