Medical Billing Specialist

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate billing and timely claims processing to maximize reimbursement
• Serve as the primary resource for patients, staff, and payers, tackling financial questions and resolving insurance issues
• Answer patient calls about account balances and financial assistance options
• Aid in the creation and implementation of payment plans
• Process refunds efficiently
• Investigate denied claims and monitor aging accounts to ensure all discrepancies are addressed
• Collaborate with clinical staff and third-party payers to reconcile payments and maintain precise account records

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED
• An Associate's degree or higher preferred
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in healthcare settings, specifically with patient accounts and revenue cycle functions
• Familiarity with third-party payors, ICD-10/CPT codes, and prior authorization processes
• Experience with claims follow-up and patient refunds
• Proficiency in using Athena EMR or similar systems

Pay

A competitive pay range of $20.00-$25.00 an hour.
