Medical Billing Soecialist
About the role
A specialized client in the Northern Delaware area is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist with expertise in billing regulations, payer requirements, and behavioral health reimbursements. The role involves overseeing medical billing, verifying medical insurance coverage, coding medical procedures and diagnoses, preparing insurance claims, preparing patient statements and invoices, posting payments, tracking outstanding receivables, maintaining billing records, and staying updated on coding changes and compliance regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to solve problems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Process medical billing and invoicing accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with payer and healthcare regulations.
- Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims and patient invoices in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized billing records and assist with reporting as needed.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize collections.
- Post payments, reconcile billing discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Verify patient insurance information and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff to resolve billing inquiries and payment issues.
- Provide general administrative support related to billing operations, including filing, document management, and data entry.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will preferably have an Associates/Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration. Other requirements include at least 3 years of billing, invoicing, administrative experience, healthcare experience a plus but not required, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Epic or similar software experience preferred, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in medical billing, payer requirements, and behavioral health reimbursements. They should be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Epic or similar software, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The ability to stay updated on coding changes and compliance regulations is also crucial.
