Medical Biller I - Ambulance Billing

Join our team in a specialized clerical and bookkeeping role focused on medical billing, fiscal records, and accounts receivable within our project tracking system.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret Patient Care Reports (PCR) for billing input using RescueNet Software.
• Enter charges based on the County Fee Schedule policy outline.
• Assign proper medical codes (ICD-9/10) based on the medical narrative and adapt information for various insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Verify insurance coverage via phone, written, or electronic communication.
• Type correspondence, reports, memoranda, forms, and records.
• Answer questions regarding statements and insurance coverage.
• Follow up with companies on unpaid insurance claims via phone or written communication.
• Enter payments from electronic remittance downloads, checks, and EOBs.
• Identify and interpret data for accurate entry.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, maintenance of fiscal records, or medical records.
• Experience with a computer terminal or PC (proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, and Medical Billing Software).
• Valid Florida driver’s license.

Skills

• Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
• Ability to learn rules and regulations related to accounting records.
• Proficiency in operating office machinery, including computers.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
• Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with International Classification Disease Codes (ICD-9/10).
• Experience with RescueNet Software and medical billing.
• Customer service and/or data entry experience.
