About the role
The Medical Biller will be responsible for achieving billing standards as defined by the established billing timeliness policy. You will work closely with clients to answer questions related to billing, process forms needed for insurance billing, and collect necessary documentation.
Responsibilities
- Ensures timely resolution and follow-up of outstanding accounts receivable to maintain a healthy billing cycle.
- Processes and submits claims, including Hospital, Physician, Medi-Cal, Managed Care, HMO/PPO, and out-of-state Medicaid, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and required time frames.
- Conducts follow-up on Outpatient Medi-Cal, Managed Care, HMO/PPO, and out-of-state Medicaid claims to ensure prompt reimbursement.
- Reviews, processes, and submits all required forms and documentation received from insurance carriers.
- Accurately enters all billing and payment information into the system, ensuring data integrity and minimizing errors.
- Follows up with clients regarding outstanding balances and payments as needed.
- Verifies insurance payment accuracy and assigns appropriate payment posting codes in a timely manner.
- Upholds the highest standards of confidentiality in handling all patient and financial information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned and provides support on special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Billing required.
- Knowledge of reimbursement for LEA BOP providers preferred.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal, Managed Care and HMO/PPO process and billing guidelines.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD9, ICD10 Codes, Modifiers. Surgical Procedure Codes and Revenue Codes.
- Knowledge of Medicare Part A and B.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel.

Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal, Managed Care and HMO/PPO process and billing guidelines.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD9, ICD10 Codes, Modifiers. Surgical Procedure Codes and Revenue Codes.
- Knowledge of Medicare Part A and B.
- Knowledge of utilizing Insurance websites for claim status.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel.
