Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will support the delivery of patient care under the supervision of the acting physician. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with interviews and care processes, treatments, and patient transport. They will also handle administrative tasks like answering phones, obtaining insurance authorizations, and entering information into the EMR.
Duties
- Screen patients while performing and recording vital signs
- Perform data entry through Electronic Medical Record system
- Maintain medical records and patient confidentiality
- Disinfect and clean room after each patient
- Explains treatment to patients as needed
- Change sutures and dressings as needed
- Auxiliary physician during exam
- Answer phone calls in a friendly manner and act as operator for the Hospital
- Greet and interact with patients in a friendly and polite manner
- Perform other administrative duties as needed such as registering patients and scheduling appointments
- Multitask and move between responsibilities in a fluid manner
- Maintain compliance with Jcaho hospital standards and Stat policies
- Monitor supplies and inventory as needed
Qualifications
- Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or Biology preferred
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or CNA desired
- Able to achieve CPR certification within 90 days of employment
- Excellent customer service skills and patient care
- Compassionate and works well with others
- Strong attention to detail
