Tallahassee State College is a vibrant and comprehensive state college located in Florida’s capital city. About the Role

We’re looking for a Medical Assisting Faculty member who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community within the Healthcare Professions Division.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates effective instructional effort by:
    • Maintaining high academic standards
    • Teaching current and relevant curriculum
    • Communicating content effectively
    • Cultivating an environment best suited to learning
  • Actively engages in defining and revising appropriate curriculum content
  • Makes significant contributions to the College through service and support of College policies and procedures
  • Actively engages in professional development
  • Teaches classes at assigned times and locations, providing teaching and office schedules as required
  • Maintains and reports accurate records of attendance and grades in compliance with state, federal, and college policies
  • Maintains office hours as scheduled and approved by the immediate supervisor
  • Reviews course objectives and instructional strategies periodically to ensure consistency with the master syllabus
  • Prepares or revises master course syllabi and assists in course coordination
  • Participates in the selection of appropriate course textbooks, resources, and learning management systems
  • Revises or develops new courses to ensure curriculum relevancy and appropriateness
  • Encourages students to utilize College resources, including the Library, Learning Commons, and online tools
  • Engages in service to the College through committee participation, orientation, recruitment, and other activities
  • Provides service to the division through committee work, adjunct support, administrative duties, or other agreed-upon activities
  • Serves the discipline through leadership in state or national organizations
  • Participates in the advising process
  • Follows all college policies and procedures
  • Develops and implements a plan for professional development, including short- and long-term goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline
  • Valid national licensure in Medical Assisting and/or licensure in a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Physician, Emergency Medical Services, Physician Assistant)
  • Three years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Physician, Emergency Medical Services, Medical Assisting, Physician Assistant)
