As a Medical Assistant with X-ray skills, you will perform administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider—such as a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner—in a medical office setting. You will work closely with the physician, assist with direct patient care, serve as the clinical liaison between the physician, patient, and office staff, and provide radiology functions. The role involves promoting communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the patient’s care plan as defined by the attending physician, while adhering to age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

Clinical Functions

  • Taking patients to exam rooms
  • Greeting patients and obtaining vital signs
  • Assisting with medical procedures
  • Performing phlebotomy and obtaining lab specimens
  • Calculating and administering medications and vaccinations
  • Adhering to safety and infection control guidelines

Administrative Functions

  • Scheduling appointments and answering phones
  • Clerical and computer work, including maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Faxing and handling disability and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork
  • Prior authorizations, billing, and coding

Requirements

  • Graduate of a medical assistant program or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • One of the following credentials: LXMO, LXMOT, RAD, or RADT (must obtain RAD within 6 months of hire if currently holding RADT)

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology
  • Certified Medical Assistant
