Medical Assistant, Women's Health
About the role
The Medical Assistant position at Wentworth Health Partners, an affiliate of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and member of Mass General Brigham Medical Group, plays a key role in maintaining efficient patient flow and delivering comprehensive clinical support.
Responsibilities
- Takes vital signs, documents patient information, schedules appointments, and manages patient flow.
- Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities.
- Interviews patients to obtain medical information, measures vital signs, weight, and height, and records information in the patient's medical record.
- Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Performs general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs them, and prepares them for testing; performs phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
- Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates.
- Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
- Improves appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred.

- Pay Range: $20.48 - $24.94/Hourly.
