About the role

This position provides patient care in the clinic or ambulatory care setting, schedules appointments, manages tasks for providers, submits referrals, and performs back-up reception duties.

Responsibilities

  • Access, understand, and process tasks and duties in the electronic medical records system.
  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep clinic operations running smoothly.
  • Manage the tasks inbox daily, send and receive tasks.
  • Handle multi-line telephones, schedule appointments, update patient information, and administer medication.
  • Perform sterile technique setup and maintain sterile fields.
  • Assist with submission of referrals for providers.
  • Administer medication as prescribed within scope of practice.
  • Initiate/participate in Code White, Code Blue, and Code Red situations.
  • Update health maintenance reports and retrieve hospital notes.
  • Work with Pharmacist at Physicians Plaza Pharmacy to ensure prescriptions are correct and medications are ordered.
  • Work with referring providers to ensure prescriptions for patient medical administration is complete.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/certificate required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current venipuncture certification.
  • Knowledge of computers.
  • One-year experience in a physician’s office or clinic preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and current vehicle insurance.

Qualifications

  • California Certified Medical Assistant/Ward Clerk.
  • HEDIS and I-Star knowledge and participation.
  • Adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations of the Company.
  • Interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers professionally.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multi-line telephones.
  • Basic knowledge of infection control and medical waste management.
  • Basic wound care and dressing changes.
  • Basic knowledge of various diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Ability to perform sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of patient forms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be reasonably between $28.05 and $33.00. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
