Medical Assistant – Waltham OBGYN
About the role
Join Mount Auburn OBGYN in Waltham as a Medical Assistant supporting patients throughout their obstetric and gynecologic care. This hands-on clinical role includes rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, administering injections as directed, assisting with procedures, managing specimens, and coordinating follow-up care. You may also provide administrative support when staffing needs require it.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients, identify their needs, and prepare them for visits
- Review medical records and document chief complaints and vital signs
- Perform phlebotomy and assist with specimen collection
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider
- Prepare equipment and assist during clinical procedures
- Explain preparation instructions for tests and procedures
- Complete lab requisitions accurately and track outstanding results
- Triage patient calls and communicate messages to providers
- Process prescriptions and communicate test results under provider direction
- Schedule special procedures and coordinate referrals and pre-certifications
- Review cancellations and no-shows with providers and reschedule patients as clinically indicated
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and clinical equipment
- Restock exam rooms and maintain supply inventories
- Provide front-desk or secretarial support when needed
- Cross-train and float to other practices as required

Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, or Registration Certified Nursing Assistant preferred, or Certificate 1 EMT Basic License preferred, or Certificate 2 Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
- 0–1 years related work experience required
- Demonstrated Medical Assistant (MA) competencies within one year of hire
- Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications

Pay
$21.00 – $28.26 per hour (base hourly range). Actual compensation may vary based on seniority, education, training, experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other applicable factors permissible by law.
